Aerie Community Resort & Cruise Camps.

Our Avoca Trust holds Tax deductible gift status for "Education about, and conservation of, the Murray River". We provide extended cruise school camps for youth at risk of dropout.

Those who have interest in the Murray River and its conservation, are invited to membership of "Aerie Community Club and Cruise programs" to enjoy Community and help develop the proposed private membership fleet of backpacker style cruise boats working the river and helping kids at risk of school dropout.

  • Our Community managed "Avoca trust" is our DGR Gift Recipient to provide "Education and training about, and conservation of the Murray River environment".
  • Our budget resort and backpacker style river boats will operate a full time school camp cruise program to assist wilderness learning for schools and prevent dropout. Community groups who recognise a need for "learning about the river environment and its conservation" are welcome to tag along cruise.

Avoca Community Club will be a private Membership only Community Club

  1. Families are invited to invest in the river community club, hosting school camp style houseboats to help disrupted kids bring their education back on track.
  2. The school camp style cruising Houseboats will provide river wilderness cruising for youth groups, remote from urban distractions and mobile phones to reset their appreciation of reallity and the natural environment.
  3. The Aerie Community wilderness family resort Club will be on the riverfront about 1.5hr drive from Adelaide on a good bitumen road.

Families and Service Clubs are invited to make a DGR Donation to support Youth beds in our resort and river camping boats. Our DGR Focus is:- "Education about the natural envrionment of the Murray Darling rivers" to help teens at risk of school dropout.

Make a Gift to our DGR Avoca Trust as a total tax deduction to fund a student bed.

  1. The gift of $40,000 to our "Avoca Trust" will fully fund one student bed with the community, on the school ships or at the private community resort.
  2. The Gift of $110 will fund one bed for one night.
  3. Students do not pay rent for berths on the school ships or at the resort because of the DGR donation.

                  > Students pay food costs, learn cookery and riverboats operations skills.

                  > State Gov. pays all education costs as it is a registered school at the resort.

Our community supports disrupted teens who seek a restart CHANGE as they progress into their older teens. Our teacher staff can provide care for under age teens.

Some teens have found unbearable teasing or group rejection in their school, and simply cannot face their tormentors.

Others have unbearable family or home problems and need help to move away from the family torment.

OR Some highschool subjects and teaching modes are just not right for their learning style.

OR Some just need time "in chrysalis" a change for their unhappy child body and brain as it grows to adult.

The signs of child depression and the need for change are:-

  • Spending large amount of time on their phones
  • Slumped demeanor, head held low, no smiles, no conversation
  • Refusal to go to school
  • Leaving home for school but hiding in other places
  • Hiding from family in their rooms
  • Constant crying for no good reason
  • Unable to explain their unhappiness

Some teens need "Time Out" from their current environment

  • CHANGE for the sake of their fragile mental health.
  • CHANGE to their learning and support mode.
  • CHANGE of "carer ideas".
  • Parents sometimes apply too much pressure, too busy, not enough care, or are just not capable.

Teens, like the caterpillar, need time in a different environment, before they emerge into their full beauty.

River Murray SACE School ships are like cucoons attached to the Paringa Resort school, providing a safe living/learning environment, to help disrupted kids through their SACE transition years:-

Many teens in the 15-18 cohort are at risk of mental health problems. We can help these kids.

  • Consider buying a student berth, their cucoon, in a houseboat school ship, with home port at school campus.
  • We help disrupted teens complete their SACE.
  • Our schoolships accommodate a supportive team group, with teacher supervision, remote from their torments.
  • Families share invest in owner/membership of the home base resort campus and the school ships for enjoyable houseboat holiday time with their teens on occasions, or tag along cruise in their family boat.
  • Donate Tax deduction money to buy a share in our DGR Avoca trust School ships. Claim it back on tax return.
  • Consider this as an alternative to maintaining an expensive houseboat that does not get much use.

Teen life is much more enjoyable when they can share occasional visit time with family and friends.

  • Sharing Family fun "time out" on riverboats during the critical teens fledging years, helps hold the teens on task, remote from city distractions during "School time to complete SACE subjects" while sharing "family holiday" time on the boats or at the resort.
  • Everything you pay when visiting the resort is a tax deduction, a DGR donations to help fund AVOCA School school ships. The program is DGR Tax deduction approved. (Education about, and conservation of the Murray River environment)
  • If you have a houseboat and need help, tag along with us and our students will help you. They learn through shared experience.
