This Aerie Campus Homestay with places for 18 students and stabled horses will operate as Residential Homestay to provide care for both SACE students and their horses while completing their SACE in eastern Adelaide schools and Colleges. We will run a daily school bus to city.
The ability to study for their SACE and caring for horses while attending school in the SACE years has an amazing effect on the wellness of young people.
Active horse riding has unexpected benefits for youth in transition.
While the facilities at this campus are 5 star for both students and their horses, Aerie student will live backpacker and peer service style. International YHA rules apply. This is designed to maintain the reality of living within a budget and sharing life safely with other young adults.
Parents may like to look at our entry chats that set the rules.
This is the same in all Aerie residential campuses. Students care for each other, in close living with partners and teams to attend to the maintenance of the campus. Aerie only employs staff to do what students will not have time for. Students in homestay will participate in house skills learning in housekeeping, property maintenance skills and horse care as part of their homestay life. "Learn by living it".
Aerie will have a qualified teacher on staff as house mother to assist with home tasks and liaison with the student's school. Another teacher with horse skills will operate the Bus run from Campus to schools and work with the horses.
Principal, Capt. Bouc will be homestay resident in this property, but likely out and about to other campuses at times
Extra Learning:- We will also be developing a farm vegetable garden and many flower patches, eye toffee for the brain feel good, and "Choir" round the campfire or in the lounge in front of the fire in winter as part of the homestay experience.
Location:- Somewhere in the Adelaide hills near Nairn.
House teams share backpacker style sleeping spaces on campus. All teams share common living areas.
Some students may seek to stay on with Aerie after SACE completion to develop VET equine opportunities available on the property.
SACE+VET with curriculum focus on horse care skills, growing food, tourism, hospitality, cookery, and care services. Physical activities focus on horses and their care.
Accommodation for country parents visiting the city to spend some time with their kids.
This is a small country cottage with three bedrooms, lounge, share kitchen and ablutions. It will be maintained in guest ready condition by students as part of their housekeeping skills training.
It is anticipated visiting parents will share meals with the teams in the main house. Some of the kids will be on cook and table attendant duty for the meal.
Students will maintain the cottage garden as their vegie patch and other flower patches on campus.
