Planning Aerie Community Residential marina.

Aerie Community, living, learning - Conserving a Better futu

WELCOME TO AERIE COLLEGE RESIDENTIAL MARINA LIFESTYLE. Older teens live and learn with their supervising trainers on School ship houseboats, swag style close living, as a protective student team. The boats are all capable of cruise but are mostly in the proposed Aerie marina, upriver from Mannum, Adelaide side. Regular double kayaking is a required exercise.

The Decision Point

At the end of the "Time Out" cruise, the Aerie Principal, student, and family will meet to make a decision:

  • Stay with the Aerie Collegiate Community for the long haul towards a VET Diploma,
  • Or leave, with the decision resting with the parents before the child reaches 18 years of age.

Areas where students can be protected:

As some of our students will be under 18 years of age we are required to have protection policies in place.

  •  The Aerie Administration house, and gated residential marina will be a protected remote safe living zone.
  • Student resident houseboats both at berth and while cruising are protected zones for students.

The planned Aerie Residential marina site near Mannum.

WELCOME TO THE PROPOSED AERIE COMMUNITY RESIDENTIAL MARINA, CLUB FACILITIES AND HOME BASE FOR AERIE COLLEGE Training SHIPS. This conservation zone development site in on the main river road about 10k from Mannum on the Adelaide side. Easy vehicle access during busy holiday time. No ferry to cross.

The Decision Point - we must conserve what we have for the future.

We have been watching this site for several years.  As it is In the conservation zone it remains for sale, waiting for a conservation use. We believe there is sufficient planning evidence to gain approval for the development of the Special Purpose Residential marina for aged residential house boaters and the supportive youth training college, developing care services skills, while at the same time making best conservation use of a badly degraded riverfront land.

SYMBIOSIS  =  CONSERVATION ZONE;

  • Conservation training for Youth at risk - - -  Environment and aged people
  • Aged house boating lifestyle needs conservation of care and support
  • Good viable use of very badly degraded land
  • Secure gated precinct where students can be protected:
  • The Aerie Administration in house at road entrance provides the gated security.
  • Student resident houseboats would be in a protected zone for students.
  • Students work and learn in the management of the Community club resort facilities

AERIE Community will contract with a marina developer to create and market this opportunity.

"Come and Try" Term: Ensuring the Right Fit

Welcome to Aerie College: A Unique Path to Learning and Growth

Welcome to Aerie College: A Unique Path to Learning and Growth

We understand that a new educational environment needs to be the right fit for both the student and Aerie College. That's why we offer a "Come and Try" first term for all prospective students. This allows everyone to make an informed enrolment decision.

During time out voyage, all students learn boat operations and maintenance skills, building strong partnerships and developing strong care skills both people and the environment.

The Aerie College "Time Out" Cruise

Welcome to Aerie College: A Unique Path to Learning and Growth

The Aerie College "Time Out" Cruise

Our unique Aerie College "Time Out" Cruise is a complete change of lifestyle, specifically designed to reset a teen's mental health. It aims to remove them from unhappy school environments, and sometimes even their family home, to allow for a period of calm and re-evaluation. Our 10-week "Time Out" River cruise provides this transformative experience, smoothing their feathers and putting them back on track for a happy, productive future. Parents with boats can even tag along and join in when appropriate. The students reside on "TS Aerie" for the full learning program. We welcome parent help but ask that it doesn't interfere with the structured program. Our Aerie teachers are skilled in nurturing both "eaglets" and "doves" – a metaphor for children who push limits and those who are more compliant.

Community and Family Connection

Our Living and Learning Environment

The Aerie College "Time Out" Cruise

We believe in fostering strong connections between students and their families. Families can stay connected by joining the private Aerie Marina Resort Club. This exclusive membership provides opportunities for families to engage with the Aerie community and their children's educational experience.

Some subjects are taught on our campus, ideally situated with our team boats moored in the Aerie marina. This allows for a blend of traditional and experiential learning.

The "Fledging Time" Advantage

Our Living and Learning Environment

Our Living and Learning Environment

Private boarding school for senior high years (15+) has a long tradition for many families. Wise parents recognize the importance of "fledging time" – allowing youth to gain independence. Many older teens take a "Gap Year" after high school for similar reasons: to find their own path.

For some disrupted teens, those Aerie College can help most, this "Time Out" is needed earlier in their school life to change their trajectory. Aerie College provides this crucial "Fledging Time" for two years or more if needed, for families with school-age teens who desire or require a break from their current school or home environment. This concept aligns with the "Compulsory National Service" found in some nations, which exposes young people to a wide range of community services.

Aerie expands with extra river boats.
