Murray Schoolship One Term Cruise Camps.

Parents, give your unhappy teens a "Time Out" term rethink.

When off track and depressed, school teens can rethink their future with a "Time Out" cruise camp.

It is the parent's decision to give their child "Time Out"

  • In our ten week "Time Out" school camp program, the student remains enrolled in their school to comply with education law.
  • Individual Teachers may advise parents of this opportunity as a solution for the student's school problems. There are many reasons for teen missery. CHANGE helps.
  • Parents make the decision for their child to take "Time Out" and inform the school.
  • The student remains enrolled at the school which is expected to cooperate with the school ship teachers for benefit of the student.

We offer individual enrolment of teens from any school. Our teachers will cooperate with that school for the student's continuing SACE program. Our teachers add our special residential events programs.

  • Each student is required to maintain a personal daily Log summary of all their time on cruise camp, including their personal thoughts.
  • This log is private between the student and our schoolship teacher/mentors.
  • Students may wish to share it with their home school and/or their parents.

We "Cucoon" them for a ten week "Time Out" cruise.

  • Our river school camp ship has 16 teen berths with two teachers, full time Murray cruising, with a planned "Reboot" program to reset their thinking and help them change towards a positive path forward.
  • Your student will retain their enrolment with their current school and subjects.
  • Our school cruise camp teachers will cooperate with the student's home school to maintain their existing basic SACE subjects.
  • Our teachers will include river Environmental adventure challenge studies from within SACE together with maintenance of a personal journal during the strictly scheduled cruise term. Everything is reported back to the students home school.
  • Students will do supervised kayaking with partners for exercise, reflection and chat time.
  • Their mobile phone can cruise, BUT in the care of the teachers. With teacher permission, students can use their phone for essential communication.

We provide teacher supervised "School ship cruise camps" for each of the four school terms, AND "Come and try" family cruise camps each school holidays.

Avoca Trust, managing the schoolships, has Tax deductible gift status for "Education about, and conservation of, the Murray River environment".

  • All our fees and capital asset donations are by DGR tax deductible donation.
  • We suggest a donation for each enrolment, a complete income Tax claim over 4 years.
  • Anyone can sponsor a student's bednight time with our school ships.
  • It could be a worthy gift from service clubs.

Those who have interest in the Murray River and its conservation, are invited to membership to enjoy family Club facilities and help develop the proposed club fleet of backpacker style cruise boats working the river and helping kids at risk of school dropout.

  • Our backpacker boats will hosts our Members and their invited guests.
  • They will operate full time school camp cruise program providing wilderness learning for senior school students in depression and at risk of leaving school. These school camp cruises are available as "Time Out" for individual or school group renrolment from their home school, and designed to refresh student thoughts and reset their futures.
  • Students maintain enrolment with their school during these camps.
  • Community groups who recognise a need for "learning about the river environment and its conservation" are welcome to tag along cruise.

Base Location on the river is being negotiated
