Avoca trust - Building a Better Future

Avoca School camp ships are like cucoons attached to a suitable home riverport.

Many teens in the 15-18 cohort are at risk of mental health problems. We can help these kids.

  • Consider buying a student berth, their cucoon, in a houseboat school ship, with home port at school campus.
  • We help disrupted teens complete their SACE.
  • Our schoolships accommodate a supportive team group, with teacher supervision, remote from their torments.
  • Families invest in membership of the home base and the school ships for enjoyable houseboat holiday time with their teens on occasions, or tag along cruise in their family boat.
  • Donate Tax deduction money to buy a share in our DGR Avoca trust School ships. Claim it back on tax return.
  • Consider this as an alternative to maintaining an expensive houseboat that does not get much use.

Teen life is much more enjoyable when they can share occasional visit time with family and friends.

  • Sharing Family fun "time out" on riverboats during the critical teens fledging years, helps hold the teens on task, remote from city distractions during "School time to complete SACE subjects" while sharing "family holiday" time on the boats or at the resort.
  • Everything you pay when visiting the resort is a tax deduction, a DGR donations to help fund AVOCA School school ships. The program is DGR Tax deduction approved. (Education about, and conservation of the Murray River environment)
  • If you have a houseboat and need help, tag along with us and our students will help you. They learn through shared experience.

For more information, Contact Principal Capt. Bouc 0418 836 137 OR email   capt.bouc@gmail.com

Families and Service Clubs are invited to make a DGR Donation to support Youth beds in our resort

Make a Gift to our DGR Avoca Trust as a total tax deduction to fund a student bed.

  1. The gift of $40,000 to our "Avoca Trust" will fully fund one student bed on the school ships or at the private community resort.
  2. The Gift of $110 will fund one bed for one night.
  3. Students do not pay rent for berths on the school ships or at the resort because of the DGR donation.

                  > Students pay food costs, learn cookery and riverboats operations skills.

                  > State Gov. pays all education costs as it is a registered school at the base campus.

Have you seen the problem signs in your child?

Some teens have suffered unbearable teasing or group rejection in their school, and simply cannot face their tormentors.

Others have unbearable family or home problems and need help to move away from the family torment.

... OR Some highschool subjects and teaching modes are just not right for their learning style.

... OR Some just need time "in chrysalis" to change from their unhappy child body and brain as it grows to adult.

The signs of child depression AND the need for change are:-

  • Spending large amount of time on their phones
  • Slumped demeanor, head held low, no smiles, no conversation
  • Refusal to go to school
  • Leaving home for school but hiding in other places
  • Hiding from family in their rooms
  • Constant crying for no good reason
  • Unable to explain their unhappiness
  • Abnormal change in weight.

Some teens need "Time Out" from their current environment

  • CHANGE for the sake of their fragile mental health.
  • CHANGE to their learning and support mode.
  • CHANGE of "carer ideas".
  • Parents sometimes apply too much pressure, too busy, not enough care, or are just not capable.

Teens, like the caterpillar, need time in a different environment, before they emerge into their full beauty.

PARENTS HAVE THE RIGHT to select any registered school so long as child attends to age 17.

The proposed "Avoca Cruise Camps"are planning a base at Mannum. Students are resident full time on School ships, "School camp cruising" with Home port at the waterfont property as their "School" base. Our SACE teachers provide student help, supervision, boating safety instruction, mental health support, safe shelter, good food and supervision to complete dtheir SACE Certificate while cruising.

  • The SACE Schoolship are home ported at the proposed "Community Resort. Mannum".
  • Students start their time with us by attend full time "school camp" on the college boats.
  • As they rebuild their confidence and study competency, student teams move onshore to the Paringa Campus to complete specific projects.
  • Some specialist teachers hold remote subject responsibility and visit the schoolships or resort on occasions.
  • Families are invited to share invest in "Licence to Occupy" Houseboat school ships and the resort property.
  • A sudent berth unit is valued at $40,000.

... As our Avoca trust is a listed Environmental trust, we offer DGR Gift options as a total Tax deduction.

... Full year bed Gift value $40,000 or

... One bednight gift value $110 (purchase any number of bednight gifts)

... We expect a college enrolment of 40 on the school ships and approximately 80 on resort school camp beds.

  • Aerie Teachers provide the supervision role, and residential care is as provided in a school boarding house.
  • Use of a student berth place on Avoca Boats will be free as they are provided by DGR Donations. Students pay for food only and help work the boat as skills development.
  • As a VET progression for our students, we will establish an RTO at the resort campus.
